The Complete Set
Citrus and cardamom, pineapple and cool mint, spiced apple, tart hibiscus and berries.
About 70 cents a cup.
Four 200 g loose-leaf pouches. Bought separately, $128.
Ships from the US in 1 to 2 business days.
Daybreak, Rooted, Dusk and Gather, each in a full 200 g pouch, for $110. Bought separately, $128.
Daybreak is for the morning. Cusco green tea, orange and Villa Rica cardamom brew light gold and taste of citrus and cardamom, gently sweet. The green tea gives it some caffeine, less than a cup of coffee.
Rooted is for after a meal, and it has no caffeine. It tastes fruity, with pineapple first and a cool finish from black mint. Ginger and guanábana leaf are in it as well.
Dusk belongs to the evening. Expect spiced apple and cinnamon, honey and floral notes, and a medium body that comes from Cusco black tea. The blend also holds lavender, chamomile and Amazonian vanilla. Its caffeine is low, well below a straight cup.
Gather is the one to make for company, and it is caffeine-free. Camu camu from the Amazon and hibiscus make it tart, and strawberry and blueberry add a little sweetness. It pours deep berry red, a color that comes from the hibiscus.
All four are just the plants named on the pouch, with no flavorings and no extracts. Blended in Peru.
For a hot cup, use one heaped tablespoon per 8 oz cup. Steep Daybreak six to seven minutes, with the kettle rested two to three minutes off the boil. Dusk takes six to eight (taste it at six), Gather eight to ten, and Rooted the full ten, because boldo leaves are tough and leathery. For iced tea, put a quarter of a pouch in about six cups of cold water and leave it in the fridge overnight. Strain Daybreak within ten hours, since it turns tannic even cold.
Each pouch makes about 40 cups. Across the set that is about 160, at about 70 cents a cup. It ships free in the US. Not for you? We’ll make it right within 30 days, and you keep the tea.
Rather start small? The Discovery Box has all four in 50 g pouches for $40.
Daybreak’s calendula, Rooted’s boldo and Gather’s hibiscus are often avoided during pregnancy. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or on medication, check with your doctor first.

How to brew
Loose botanicals are forgiving. Use a heaping spoon per cup and give it the full time. For a bolder cup, add more leaf, not more minutes.
Tea bags brew fast because they are filled with fine dust. Whole leaves and roots need more time to open. The longer steep is where the flavor is.
One heaped tablespoon per 8 oz cup. Each blend has its own time:
- Daybreak: 6 to 7 minutes, with the kettle rested 2 to 3 minutes off the boil.
- Rooted: 10 minutes.
- Dusk: 6 to 8 minutes. Taste at 6; past 8 the black tea turns tannic.
- Gather: 8 to 10 minutes.
For iced tea, put a quarter of a pouch in about six cups of cold water and leave it in the fridge overnight. Strain Daybreak within ten hours, since it turns tannic even cold.
Steep in an infuser or a French press, or loose in a pot and poured through a strainer.

I love the ginger and mint flavors. Works really well as a cold brew.

Amazonian vanilla might be my new favorite tea ingredient.
